Ian

Having studied at King Charles 1st school in Kidderminster Ian went on to join one of the many Carpet companies manufacturing in the town some 30 years ago. He was soon involved in all aspects of the production process responsible for the efficient operation of the weaving machinery. Attending the only college teaching carpet technology he was lucky to learn every aspect of the industry from yarns, fibres, spinning, design, weaving and finishing. At the age of 25 Ian moved on to work for a Dutch CAD / CAM supplier to the textile industry and was instrumental in the sales and development of the Carpet and Rug design software which went on to be the industry leader worldwide. After 10 years Ian realised the need for high quality design work in most of the worlds carpet producing regions of the world and so went on to form a design studio, Forte Cloth. “I have been extremely lucky to work alongside some of the most creative people in our industry and feel proud to promote their work to the most innovative manufacturers worldwide” Ian has now formed Woven Edge to showcase the very best of our designs by working alongside some of the top artisans in India creating a new and exciting UK luxury brand for the more discerning clientele. Away from work Ian enjoys collecting vinyl records, restoring retro pinball machines, watching his favourite football team and being a grandpa.
