​We know now until Christmas is a super busy time for our Interior Designers. So we've been researching our top four style trends that are happening right now.  We have also included links to the rugs we currently have in stock - so no lead time, these can be delivered in just 48 hours! What's not to love!

This trend allows nature to take back the landscape to it’s untouched and untamed beauty. Purposefully left to regenerate wildlife and natural habitats has been of great importance to balance out our busy urban city lifestyle and sustain a greener future for generations to come. Boundaries are blurred where indoors and outdoors come together for a sense of peace and mindfulness. Indoor plants have soared within
home interior trends and have been proven to create a happier living environment. #planteriordesign. The idea of city forests have taken focus in our ever growing awareness of our surroundings. Colours are earthy but soft with clay, terracotta and rust adding a contrast of warmth against brighter tones of forest green, moss and verdigris. Textures are rustic and make use of natural elements of stone, wood and vegetation. Crackled surfaces of worn and weathered elements allow for abstract colour movement and oxidised effects.

Tracing routes back to a cultural heritage of nostalgic times, designs take a worldly influence whilst still remembering individual personality. Designs have an aged look with textures of weathered wood and stone layered up with patterns of decorative blooms and botanical elements. Faded prints of flora and fauna embrace a vintage look often drawn with linear qualities to give more of a simplistic graphical look. Colours include a bright and cheery ochre, mahogany, marine blue, cardamon, greige, sail white, brass and haint blue.

Minimal design takes on organic abstract style within this Solace trend. Layers of natural elements creating landscaped pattern. A considered palette of almost neutral tones; blue now being a close third behind cream ones and grey keep a balance of tone, not being too bold or too brash in contrast. Harmonising is key with colours bleeding into one another for subtle change. A search for silence is described with Antarctic reference of white space and soft texture. Grey tones of haze and storm sit alongside purple infused twilight blue and amethyst grey with only maroon making any difference of colour impact.

Colour and light is the centre focus for this trend where experimental clashes of pattern create high contrast and a curiosity to discover more. Designs make use of simple polka dots, bright accents and black outlines creating a very pop art style.

Once again the opening destination of The London Design Festival, the 2018 edition will run from Sunday the 16th to Wednesday the 19th September.

BERLIN, GERMANY.
With a short flight of around 2 hours to Germany's capital city from the UK, Berlin is a top destination for a wealth of culture and history. More than 100 museums open their doors after hours to offer tours, films, lectures and music events known as the ‘Long Night of Museums’ for tourists and local residents to visit. The annual event takes place on the 25th August 2018 from 6pm until 2am. Admission is 18 euros or reduced admission at 12 euros. Admission is free for under 12s. Last year they celebrated 20 years of the late night opening and honoured the anniversary with a ‘Made in Berlin’ theme focusing on inventions, brands and legends that have an association with the city. Whilst here also take time to visit Berlin’s Museum Island (Museumsinsel), a magnificent collection of art work and a truly outstanding ensemble of five world-renowned museums. Apart from the legendary bust of the Egyptian queen Nefertiti, the most famous and important cultural exhibits on show here include the breathtaking Pergamon Altar and the stunning Ishtar Gate. In 1999, the Museum Island complex was inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage. The admission for visitors under 18 years is free. Regular admission is €18, reduced €9.

HAKONE, JAPAN.
​For the globetrotter amongst us, take yourself further afield and head to the area of Hakone, part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. With a train trip of around 90 minutes (one way) it’s a great day trip from Japans capital to take in the sights of Mount Fuji and the beautiful surrounds of Hakone. Famous for natural hot springs, and the view across Lake Ashinoko of nearby Mount Fuji there’s plenty to see. Whilst in the Hakone area, be sure not to miss The Open Air Museum, open 9am - 5pm daily. Tickets cost 1600 yen per adult. The museum has various different sections and exhibition spaces outdoors and indoors with the Picasso Exhibition Hall showcasing two stories worth of paintings, sculptures and ceramic works by the artist in addition to photos of him at various points during his life. Other artists work on show here include the great Henry Moore, Taro Okamoto, Yasuo Mizui, Churyo Sato, and many others, featuring over a thousand sculptures and works of art. The outdoor space covers 70,000 square metres of space so it’s a great breath of fresh air to wonder around these beautiful gardens full of inspiration and history.

BILBAO, SPAIN.
Located in the Northern area of Spain Bilbao is the tenth largest city in the country surrounded by beautiful landscapes of forests, mountains, beaches and steep coasts.
Amongst many other tourist attractions, the Guggenheim museum is a magnificent place to visit with a large display of art from all over the world, including, David Salle, Chillida, Jeff Koons, Louis Bourgeois and Robert Rauschenberg. Committed to innovation, the Solomon R Guggenheim Foundation collects, preserves, and interprets modern and contemporary art, and explores ideas across cultures through dynamic curatorial and educational initiatives and collaborations. With its constellation of architecturally and culturally distinct museums, exhibitions, publications, and digital platforms, the foundation engages both local and global audiences. MEXICO
Mexico City has been chosen as the Worlds Design Capital of 2018 becoming the 6th destination to be added to the list. The city offers a global fusion of art and design infused with local flavours of ancient culture, living by a motto of better city design
equals a better quality of life. Previous countries honoured with this award include Torino (Italy) in 2008, followed by Seoul (South Korea) in 2010, Helsinki (Finland) in 2012, Cape Town (South Africa) in 2014, and Taipei (Taiwan, Chinese Taipei) in 2016.
For Mexico, regeneration will take place in low-income areas around the city, where they aim to transform lives though design. The artistic capital of Mexico City is also home to the Frida Kahlo museum, a place where she grew up, lived and died, also
known as the Casu Azul (The Blue House). The house shows traditional crafts and personal belongings as well as Kahlo’s art expressing the anguish of her existence as well as her flirtation with socialist icons.

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK.
In April 2018 the biggest art fair in Scandinavia takes place with an estimated 16000 visitors to view more than 200 artists selected to take part. The average size of each exhibition space is more than 15m2 bringing a spectacular venue to life. Visit the exhibition from the 20th to the 22nd April. Whilst in the city take your time wondering around the vast selection of art museums including the National Gallery and the Arken museum of Modern Art.

Light up your life with London's Lumiere Festival with local artists transforming the city with installations covering areas including King's Cross, Fitzrovia, the West End, Mayfair, Westminster & Victoria, and South Bank & Waterloo. It’s an event curated by Artichoke, a leading arts charity that work with artists to put on extraordinary and ambitious exhibitions. SMITHSONIAN AMERICAN ART MUSEUM AND RENWICK GALLERY. WASHINGTON DC. UNITED STATES.
Visit the Renwick Gallery, open daily from 10:00 A.M. until 5:30 P.M and absorb the local history of Americas greats. Located near the to the White House, the closest Metro stations are Farragut West (Blue, Orange, and Silver lines) and Farragut North. Take the opportunity to really get into the design mindset and visit the Smithsonian American Art museum, just 20 minutes from the Renwick. This museum is home to one of the largest and most inclusive collections of American art in the world revealing key aspects of America’s s rich artistic and cultural history from the colonial period to today.

Brands such as Cole and Son, Sian Zeng and Charlotte Jade capture a tropical infusion of rainforest activity brought to life with a vivid colour palette of aquamarine, hot pink, burnt orange and teal blues. Deeper background tones were evident in providing a richness of colour allowing for pattern to stand out as a statement.

Whilst pantones 2018 release of colour reflects a balance of primary tones of ‘Cherry Tomato’ red, ‘Palace Blue’ and a green tinted ‘Meadowlark’ yellow. A calmer collection of shades are also included to soften a palette, ‘Almost Mauve’, ‘Ash Rose’ and ‘Nile Green’. Margo Selbys range of fabric really grasps the bright and light poppy geometric trend seen below.

Contemporary design was strongly influenced by marble and mineral textured effects. Organic bleeds of tonal colour palettes and tactile surfaces gave a real natural feel. Hayles and Howe scagliola collections imitate marble and other hard stone surfaces with a powerful injection of on trend colours of jade greens, rusted orange and indigo blue contrasted with graphite greys and muted browns.

​Botanic prints and tropical palms influenced by Pantones greenery bring walls and floors to life with an organic feel.
Digitally inspired tribal prints also inject some vibrance of colour, mixed with Ikatted repeating patterns creating a modern twist.
Stencilled and silhouetted pattern with textured backgrounds create a more simplistic and sophisticated style of ornate design.

​Tribal inspired cushions and oversized traditional florals were modernised with moody backgrounds and dramatic jewel tones.
Just as jewels do, colours shine and highlight pattern whilst also transforming colourful brights into neutral backgrounds.

Traditional styles presented opulence, decadence and ornamental drama with rich
velvety fabrics illuminated by oversized chandeliers.
Jacobean embroidery, tapestry with birds and peacocks create a luxurious interior whilst giving a feeling of oriental style.

The Tate Modern, London Exhibition: Fahrelnissa Zeid

​Visit The Tate Modern in London and take in Zeid’s obsession with line and bright colour in this summer fun exhibition.
After being one of the first women to be formally trained in Istanbul she continued her studies in Paris in the late 1920s and grew with success from here.
She was well respected and seen as an important figure in the early 1940s and 1950s. Her vibrant abstract paintings combine a fusion of Islamic, Byzantine, Arab and Persian influences with European approaches to abstraction.
Rediscover one of the greatest international female artists and be mesmerised by her
kaleidoscopic paintings.

The Tate St Ives 
​Exhibition: Jessica Warboys

​Large scale paintings, films and sculptures by British artist Jessica Warboys burst into the ever expanding Tate gallery this summer. Inspired by coastal landscapes she takes inspiration from the sea and the surrounding areas of St Ives.
‘Sea Painting, Zennor 2015’, was made on the Zennor coast near St Ives. She created the paintings on the beach, casting mineral pigments directly onto a damp, folded canvas, which was then submerged under the sea before being pulled ashore. The process allows the waves, wind and sand to shift and scatter the pigment,naturally painting the canvas. Don’t miss this incredible landscape of artwork.

This years London Design Week 2017 at Chelsea Harbour brought us fresh and fruity trends of colour clashing bold and bright design and the serene sophistication of swedish lagom all under one roof.
Home to 120 showrooms and over 600 of the worlds most prestigious brands this is the centre for interiors bursting with enthusiasm for bespoke design.

Design Trends
Floral print, patterned patchwork, chunky geometrics and digital distressed surface really launched the spring season into action and adventure leading the latest trend stories forward.

Pantones greenery was at the forefront of many of the showrooms infusing an intense tropical rainforest feel embracing a canopy of modern nature. Palettes were warm bursting with berry tones of deep maroon, indigo dyed blues, bold and bright emerald greens, burnt orange and coral tones creating multicolour contrast.

Neutrals were injected with a warmth of chocolate tinted taupe and sandy greys where cooler neutrals linked with true blues moving away from teal tones and silver hints. Brassy golds teamed well with a nomadic influence of hand drawn painterly design in burnt orange tones and coral.
Patterns embraced bringing an outdoor feel within the home with florals combining pinks, purples and grassy greens. Geometrics were simple but lines were bold and blocky with fretwork allowing for interlocking woven patterns.

A digital influence on techniques gave pixelated textures and knotted weave a chance to graduate and stipple blocky colour without becoming too overpowering within a background texture.
